About Tile Town

The Tile Town virtual community web site was born out of the TDA E-Learning Community Initiative (see below) that Kingston University have been spearheading since 2004. The virtual community town concept was first conceived by Lynn O’Neill (ELF) and Ruth Wood ( Kingston University ) while working with students and teachers who were part of the virtual community project. These ideas and concepts have given birth to the Interactive Learning Exchange (TILE) and the Tile Town web community that you see today. Ruth and Lynn’s aim is to encourage a diverse team of educationalists to become active members of the Tile Town community, exchanging ideas, working together to populate the town and provide a showcase for top quality interactive e-learning resources and training material.

The E-Learning Community Initiative

This website and the associated database of resources have been generated through collaborative activity between Kingston University primary PGCE students and partner schools. In association with the E-Learning Factory. INSET in the use of interactive whiteboards was conducted at five partner schools and some of the resulting work has been documented as case study material.

The main aim of this site is to provide opportunities for educationalists to share and exchange ideas and resources which may support the use of ICT in schools. You can find out more about this initiative or go directly to the TILE database portal at http://portal.iwb4learning.kingston.ac.uk/document/search.aspx.
